Julie Lehto- Owner

For as long as I can remember, I have loved working with numbers. As a child, I would play cashier and loved playing with the adding machine. As an adult, I really enjoy balancing checkbooks, making spreadsheets, and organizing paperwork.

I worked in a medical setting for many years and saw how confusing it was for people to understand their medical bills. I would stand in line at the bank and see an elderly person trying to understand what the teller was explaining to them about their bank account and how to handle fraudulent charges.

I have sat down with a neighbor after his wife passed away, going through his mail and writing out checks for him to sign because he couldn’t see very well. His wife had always taken care of the bills. I would think – I want to be able to help people do this on a daily basis. I also worked for an accountant and saw the amount of paperwork that people would bring in each tax season: receipts, bank statements, brokerage statements, and contribution letters.

It can be very overwhelming for someone to have to keep it all straight. An idea was forming in my mind – I will do something to help these people keep track of their money/paperwork, make sure elderly people don’t get scammed, and in turn, do what I love – and so began J. L. Money Matters, LLC. As time went on, I realized that business owners had a hard time keeping up with their bookkeeping needs or had a hard time finding someone that did things accurately. Because of my 15 plus years of doing accounts payable, accounts receivable and then bookkeeping, I wanted to be able to also offer fellow small business owners a service that can free up their time so they can concentrate on growing their business while getting monthly reports on the financial state of their business.

Donnay Hunter- Marketing Director

Donnay is our Director of Marketing and holds a Masters in Marketing from Walsh University and earned her Bachelors in Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, and Business Communications from Thiel College. When she’s not running around the world of social media, you can always catch her singing, salsa dancing, or doing something creative!
